"The Long Island Rail Road would like to express our gratitude to Selco Manufacturing Corp. for the exceptional effort that was put forth on the Belmont Park Platform Project.
As you are aware, in August of 2014 LIRR President Patrick Nowakowski challenged his Engineering Department to design and build two new, 10 car high level platforms at Belmont Park by June 2015. This challenge would only be possible by the formation of a strong partnership between LIRR and a stair and railing manufacturer capable of meeting the demanding schedule and high quality standard.
The long standing professional partnership developed between the LIRR and Selco allowed us to take on that challenge and complete the Belmont Park Project on time.
Time constraints required this project to be designed and constructed concurrently. The professional team at Selco worked efficiently to incorporate design changes without effecting fabrication.
The LIRR required Selco to fabricate and deliver 4 double wide, platform to overpass stairs, 4 platform to grade stairs and handrail for a new ADA ramp and connecting platform, in under 5 months. Selco not only met the LIRR's stringent quality control requirements, they delivered the stairs ahead of the LIRR's aggressive schedule.
The Engineering Department of the LIRR is grateful to the Team of Professionals at Selco for rising to the challenge and delivering a quality product that our customers will enjoy for many years to come."
