Selco has contributed custom-fabricated components and steel structures to some of the Northeast’s most iconic infrastructure projects.

For the Goethals Bridge $1.5 billion reconstruction project, we supplied over 14,000 lin. ft. of tubular railings and more than 200 barrier boxes. These were fabricated to meet or surpass DOT’s standards for transit structures.

We also supported the restoration of the historic Brooklyn Bridge by providing custom ornamental fencing and permanent steel barriers. This was part of a $508 million contract, which required balancing design, functionality, and preservation of the bridge’s aesthetics.

These projects showcase our ability to blend craftsmanship with technical precision in support of critical infrastructure that serves millions every day.

Our steel fabrication services are important for the following regional transit projects.

For the JFK AirTrain project, we delivered 142,000 ft. of guardrail that was essential to protecting the public and valuable equipment during the project. We also provided structural steel for the station frameworks, along with assorted aluminum cable trays at each AirTrain station, and stainless steel trays to connect Howard Beach Station.

On the No. 7 Line extension, Selco manufactured power distribution products, signal cages, cable trays, third rail brackets, protection boards, and insulators. All of these components were delivered on schedule and to the customer’s specifications.

Selco has specialized in third rail components and steel structures for urban transportation systems for over a century. This includes supplying third rail contact materials, signal platforms, messenger brackets, and cable tray systems for the King’s Highway Interlocking project.

During the Ben Franklin Bridge track replacement, we fabricated and delivered stainless steel chambers, coverboards, brackets, insulators, and fixation hardware to ensure the long-term reliability of critical rail infrastructure.

Selco has delivered major steel structures and fabrication services for numerous transit station projects, including overhead infrastructure and municipal works. As part of the $2.5 billion LIRR Third Track Expansion, we built a two-story signal bridge measuring 52 ft. long by 36 ft. high, and a cantilever structure 12 ft. long by 33 ft. high. Both show our ability to tackle complex and sizable steel fabrication challenges.

For the Marcus Hook Station project, we provided all structural steel, railings, and roof framing across multiple SEPTA facilities, helping to upgrade and modernize the region’s transit infrastructure.

Selco also designs U.L.-listed and NEMA-rated enclosures, junction boxes, and cabinets, including:

• Explosion-proof enclosures.
• Hinged weatherproof boxes.
• Sidewalk pull boxes.
• Unflanged junction boxes.
• Checkered cover access systems.

We also produce aluminum and cast iron components for power distribution, signal relay protection, and rail yard applications, which supports reliable electrical and signal systems across industries.

Following Superstorm Sandy, Selco helped strengthen structures against flooding by fabricating aluminum framing systems for stairwell entrances at four Lower Manhattan subway stations, including Whitehall and Broad Street.

We also delivered vent vault frames for Con Edison, engineered to keep underground utility systems sealed during extreme weather events. Our flood mitigation solutions are designed for pressure resistance, corrosion resistance, and easy field retrofitting – helping safeguard infrastructure in a changing climate.
