Selco Manufacturing Corp. is an AISC-certified custom manufacturer supplying heavy-duty structural components for infrastructure agencies and contractors across the United States. Our modern manufacturing facilities build custom steel and metal assemblies, including specialized parts for rail transit hardware and electrical enclosures, designed for easy field installation.
Explore our recent steel fabrication projects below to see how our structural steel and flood protection systems perform in demanding real-world applications.
Steel Structures
Selco builds heavy-duty steel structures for major infrastructure upgrades. Our team executes complex steel fabrication requirements for transportation networks and industrial utilities. Below are several key infrastructure projects demonstrating our structural steel fabrication capabilities.
New Jersey Transit Elizabeth Train Station
This $50 million reconstruction of the Elizabeth Train Station includes two newly built station buildings equipped with new elevators and added handicap accessibility. The site features new high-level platforms on both sides of the tracks, complete with new waiting rooms and multiple staircases. Additionally, the upgraded station includes ornamental fencing extending from the street to the platform levels. This layout grants easy access from street-level sidewalks directly to the platforms.
For this initiative, we fabricated the inbound and outbound platform steel, waiting room structures, platform canopies, ramps, stairs, railings, and guardrails.
Long Island Railroad Third Track Expansion Project
This $2.5 billion expansion project adds nearly 10 miles of new track in New York from Floral Park to Hicksville. As one of the region’s most significant transportation infrastructure developments, it will improve mass transit, reduce traffic congestion, and protect the environment. Major elements include the elimination of seven grade crossings, new parking facilities, passenger rail station upgrades, and railroad infrastructure improvements.
Selco fabricated a two-story overhead signal bridge measuring 52 feet long and 36 feet high. We also fabricated a cantilever signal bridge spanning 12 feet long and 33 feet high.
SEPTA Marcus Hook Station
This station project involved removing a 17-span bridge and replacing it with a 4-span, 370-foot bridge over Amtrak and SEPTA tracks. The construction included four retaining walls for the bridge approaches and two separate 4 story SEPTA ramps for pedestrian access.
We fabricated all the structural steel, handrails, railings, and roof framing for both SEPTA structures located on either side of the tracks.
Port Authority Global Marine Terminal Expansion Project
Global Terminal represents the closest container terminal to the New York/New Jersey Harbor entrance located outside the Bayonne Bridge. The 70-acre terminal increased overall capacity in NY/NJ. To serve both the new section and the existing 110-acre terminal, the gate facilities were expanded from 16 to 29 lanes, and the dock space was extended to 2,700 feet.
For this terminal expansion, we manufactured the following structural steel components:
- Ten steel tubular overhead sign structures with an 80-foot span
- Ten custom waterside structures engineered specifically for the terminal edge
Sinatra Park & Castle Point Waterfront Restoration
This project in Hoboken, New Jersey rebuilt the pier and platform for a waterfront soccer field that collapsed in 2009. An adjacent parking lot used by the Stevens Institute of Technology previously collapsed in 2006.
We fabricated 340 feet of new ornamental sea railing. Our technicians also refurbished 510 feet of existing sea railing to match the current aesthetic.
Tinton Falls Solar Farm Power Project
This $80 million solar power project spreads over 100 acres of land in Monmouth County and comprises 85,000 ground-mounted solar panels. It stands as the largest solar power projects in New Jersey and on the East Coast of the United States. The electricity generated from this site powers nearly 3,000 homes per day. We fabricated and assembled all the inverter platforms in 40-foot sections for easy field installation.
Flood Protection
Our facility manufactures heavy-duty flood protection barriers for municipal and utility sectors. We fabricate these systems to safeguard essential infrastructure against extreme weather events. View our specialized steel fabrication projects below.
New York City Transit Flood Mitigation Project (Removable Subway Sealers)
Following Superstorm Sandy, Selco manufactured custom aluminum framing systems for 10 unique station entrances across four Lower Manhattan subway stations. Designed for rapid deployment during severe weather events, these removable flood barriers protect critical subway infrastructure in:
- Whitehall Station
- Broad Street Station
- Rector (BMT) Station
- Rector (IRT) Station
Con Edison New York City Anti-Flood Vent Vault Frame
We fully fabricated the specialized vent vault frame for this utility application.
